Role & Responsibilities
- Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and operate Camunda Platform 8 applications (backend & frontend).
- Drive the design and implementation of new features.
- Collaborate with Product Management and other Engineers.
- Improve developer experience (e.g., deployment, monitoring).
- Propose and discuss architecture changes.
- Must-Have Qualifications:
- 4+ years Fullstack experience (Java & React).
- Experience with Spring Boot, JUnit, Rest APIs.
- Motivation to own backend/frontend development.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, incremental environment.
- Comfortable with "you build it, you run it" mindset.
- Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Knowledge of GCP.

We are looking for a Software Engineer, Full Stack to join our Core Features team. Together with this remote, cross-functional team you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and operation of Camunda Platform 8 including Zeebe, Operate, Tasklist, Optimize and collaborate to build new features in the Camunda Platform.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Contribute and improve how our users can build C8 Processes powered by our platform.
- Understand, develop, and own the Java Backend and React Frontend of the C8 Applications.
- Be empowered to drive the design, and implementation of new features.
- Collaborate with Product Management, and other Engineers during scoping, implementation, and review of changes.
- Contribute towards a great developer-experience, e.g., by automating deployment, or monitoring processes.
- Discuss and propose architecture changes which improve the fundamentals of our solution.
- Be empowered to make your own decisions while getting help and input of your teammates at the same time.
What You Bring:
- Ability and/or willingness to use our product
- 4+ years of experience as a Fullstack Engineer using Java (Spring Boot, JUnit and Rest APIs) and React in a professional software application development environment.
- Motivation to understand, develop, and own the Backend/Frontend of the Camunda applications.
- Brings a “Manager-of-one” mindset: Promotes a proactive approach to managing individual responsibilities, fostering collaboration with Product Management, SRE, and fellow Engineers throughout the entire process from scoping and solution design to implementation, testing, review, deployment, and operation, while ensuring support and input from teammates when needed.
- Ability to work in a remote environment following an incremental approach: use written communication for regular status updates and capturing key decisions, deliver work results in small iterations (within days)
- You thrive in taking ownership of the codebase, as well as how you deploy and operate software. You are comfortable with the “you build it, you run it” mindset.
